The Valley View Skate Park was made possible from the hard work and generous donations from Bobby & Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation, QBP, Friends of Bloomington Skate Park, the Trygstad Family, and the City of Bloomington.
The Valley View Skate Park is FREE to the general public.
The park is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily May through September. Other months the skate park is open 8 a.m. to sunset.
Lights are available, after dark, May through September upon request of the Park Attendant.
The facility is NOT supervised. Use at your own risk. Know your abilities.
General Rules
The following rules and regulations have been established for use of the skate park to ensure participant safety, cleanliness of the facility, and to maximize participant enjoyment. The City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Division and the community have made a significant commitment to this facility. Please take care of your investment!
- Know your ability and skate at your own risk. This facility is not directly supervised. Adult supervision is strongly recommended for participants under the age of 10.
- The City of Bloomington assumes no liability for any claims of injury or damages incurred by users and spectators.
- The City of Bloomington is not responsible for personal property.
- Use of helmets, wrist guards, elbow and knee pads, and proper shoes are required while using the facility.
- Skateboards, in-line skates, and BMX freestyle bikes are permitted. Metal pegs are strictly prohibited. Plastic pegs are allowed.
- Inspect and clean the surfaces before you begin to ensure a smooth, safe ride.
- Look before you go! Don't drop in on others - wait your turn.
- Do not use when the surface is wet or icy.
- The skate park is considered closed during inclement weather.
- All users must act in an orderly, safe, and considerate manner. Profanity and boisterous behavior will not be tolerated.
- The park is designed for all skill levels, be courteous to skaters/bikers with different abilities.
- Respect the facility. Keep the park clean – pick up trash, don’t consume food or beverages in the skating area, and no graffiti.
- Failure to comply with the rules and regulations may result in expulsion from the park, or closure of the skate park.
- Any scheduled competition, demonstration, or event MUST have prior approval and applicable permits from the City of Bloomington.
- The City of Bloomington’s Manager of Parks and Recreation has the final authority over the scheduling and use of this facility.
- The park is not maintained for skating or biking during the winter months.

- The City of Bloomington reserves the right to close the skate park for events, emergencies, or when conditions necessitates
- The skate park is CLOSED one weekend in July, annually, for the Firemen’s Softball Tournament
Prohibited Items & Activities
- Motorized and battery operated equipment
- Profanity, cursing or abusive language
- Drugs, alcohol or tobacco use of any kind
- Food, drinks or chewing gum on the skating surfaces
- Additional obstacles or any modifications to existing structures (ramps, railings, etc.)
- Guns or weapons of any kind
- Graffiti, tagging or stickers
- Glass Containers
- Horseplay, pushing, shoving or fighting
- Loud and/or inappropriate music
- Entering after the posted hours is considered trespassing and may result in a criminal trespass citation and seizure of equipment.
Other
- Restrooms and a drinking fountain are accessible in the Arnie Johnson Field House between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, May through September. NOTE: The Field House may not be open for business every day.
- Typically there is a portable toilet onsite, just south of the skate park between May and October.
- A picnic table is located just north of the skate park. This is accessible on a first come, first serve basis.
