How is Bloomington contributing to climate damage?
The buildings in our community play a big role in driving climate change —the electricity and natural gas used to fuel them are the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the city.
Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Bloomington. The majority of transportation-related emissions come from driving passenger vehicles.
How you can help
To support Bloomington's climate goals, here are four ways you can make a difference:
Replace car trips with transit, biking, walking, telecommuting, combining trips, or carpooling For more information on sustainable transportation options visit Commuter Services.
Make your next vehicle a plug-in electric Electric vehicle (EV) technology is now fully capable of replacing your “gasmobile”, especially if you live in a two-car household. The 2020 generation of EVs are cheaper to own, more fun to drive, and just overall better than the equivalent gasoline-fueled cars – with dramatically lower carbon emissions.
