City of Bloomington utility crews are working to repair a 16” water main break on East Bush Lake Road (CSAH 28) near the Hyland Park Ski Jump parking area. The break first occurred late in the morning of Wednesday, March 30.

Some customers noticed a brief interruption in water service as system pressure fell from 85 psi to 38 psi. Automated pumping controls in the distribution system were quickly called for, bringing the system pressure back into normal range. City crews quickly responded and isolated the affected area. Traffic along East Bush Lake Road will be reduced to one lane with flaggers on both ends of the closure.

If you are experiencing cloudy water, which can happen when water main breaks occur, try running water in a laundry tub or a spot closest to your water meter until it clears up. Rest assured that the water is completely safe to drink. If you continue to have problems with your water, you can call our office at 952-563-8777 or our 24-hour line at 952-563-4905.

Thank you for your patience while we work through this water main repair.

Update

The main break has been repaired, and the street patched. Groundwater continues to seep from the repair area, appearing to be a City water leak. The Utility Division has sampled the water several times and confirmed it is groundwater. With the steep road grade and hilly terrain, groundwater will often surface at the path of least resistance. In this case, where the watermain was repaired, so the seeping may continue for some time until drier conditions.
