Bloomington, MN — On Wednesday, August 21, the City of Bloomington held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of renovations at Bryant Park, 1000 W. 90th St. The project includes the development of the city’s first fully inclusive playground, along with various other improvements to the park.

“The redesign of this park marks the creation of Bloomington's first fully accessible and inclusive park,” said Mayor Tim Busse. “We are excited to offer a space where everyone, regardless of ability, age or identity, can come together and enjoy. This park will become a place that welcomes many, many people.”

The updated Bryant Park will feature an accessible playground designed for children of all abilities. Additional updates will include a skate park, new tennis and basketball courts, a centrally located shelter building and improved pathways. The project also incorporates sustainability measures and enhancements to natural resources within the park.

The event recognized the contributions of City officials, staff and residents who played a significant role in shaping the park’s design. Community members who frequently use the park were present, highlighting the importance of public input in the project.

Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2025. During the construction period, sections of Bryant Park will be closed to the public for safety reasons. Visitors are advised to follow posted signs and avoid entering construction areas.
