Naturalist Program: Insects and Flowers of the Prairie

Join naturalists to search for insects & flowers in the restored Nord Myr prairie. 

During this free, drop-in program, you will: 

  • Use tools like nets and field guides
  • Explore the difference between true bugs and other insects
  • Discover the biodiversity of prairie plants and animals
  • Play ‘bug bingo’

Drop in any time between 2 and 3:30 p.m. Enter the park at the trail head located near the intersection of West 91st Street and Toledo Road. 

  • Please Note: Nord Myr Park’s mowed paths include some hills and uneven ground. 
  • Water bottles and sun protection are recommended. 
  • Please avoid using insect repellant on your hands if you plan to handle any insects.

Parking is available along West 91st Street.  

Maximum number of participants: 20 (first come, first served).
