The South Loop Community Garden opening was a resounding success, bringing together community members eager to enjoy the new communal space. The event, hosted by Creative Placemaking, featured a delightful mix of Indigenous fare from Pow Wow Grounds, free paletas from Valentina’s Michoacana, a cyanotype activity station, drum circle Long Hollow, and live music from Alto Designó. See the City’s Instagram Reel on the event at blm.mn/instagram.

The new garden includes plots, benches, native landscaping, an artful shading structure, a picnic table and stunning cyanotype banners created by artists Sheila Novak and Erin Genia. The South Loop Garden is located at 2263 E. Old Shakopee Road.
