Cassandra Engelen

Officer Engelen has been serving the city of Bloomington for three years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in prelaw and political science with a minor in law enforcement and master’s degree in criminal justice leadership.

Engelen began her career at the Minnesota State Hospital in St. Peter followed with a supervisory role at the Minnesota Department of Corrections.

Ready for her next challenge, Engelen applied for BPD’s Pathways to Policing program.

“Having worked through many stages of the criminal justice system, it was a natural transition,” Engelen said. Now she describes her role as the “best job on the planet. Being there for people in their time of need is a privilege and provides a feeling of purpose that is indescribable.”

A morning person who loves mint chip ice cream, Engelen enjoys time with family and friends, and her Australian Shepherd, Annie. A favorite childhood memory is spending time with her grandparents. Her grandmother was Norwegian, and Cassi would love to travel to Norway someday to visit her roots.
