With public input and City Council approval, Bloomington has updated speed limits. Local neighborhood street speed limits are now 25 miles per hour. Posted speed limits on larger roadways were also updated and vary from 25 to 35 miles per hour.

A speed limit of 20 miles per hour for school zones is currently being finalized for:

  • West 84th Street for Poplar Bridge Elementary School.

  • West 102nd Street (France Avenue to Normandale Boulevard) for Olson Middle and Elementary schools and Jefferson High School.

  • West 106th Street for Oak Grove Elementary and Middle schools.

These speed limit changes were informed by existing roadways, feedback received from the Neighborhood Transportation Management Plan and public engagement, studies regarding effective speed limits and engineering best practices.
