Bloomington Pride 2024

Bloomington residents are taking the lead in planning Bloomington Pride 2024, planned for Sunday, September 22, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Bloomington Civic Plaza.  The transition to a community run event continues with Twin Cities Pride as the fiscal sponsor this year.  Recently five Bloomington residents gathered to create a board of directors and are working on establishing Bloomington MN Pride an independent 501(c)3.  Board members will include President: Gina Debogovich, Secretary: Amy Kilgore, Treasurer: Jason Luu, Communications: Anita Smithson,  and Planning: Annabel Kornblum.  Active leaders in the community already, Debogovich, Kilgore, and Luu are graduates of COED’s Bloomington Leadership Program and Smithson and Kornblum are current members of City commissions.

This will be the fourth year for a local pride event.  Initially, as a city hosted event which arose out of resident interest, Bloomington Pride continues to be driven by the interests and efforts of the community.  The event will be similar as in the past, with a welcoming afternoon filled with treats from food trucks, great music and entertainment, fun activities for kids, and vendor booths to visit.  More information will be available in the coming weeks athttps://bloomingtonpridemn.org/, the organization’s website.

Pride Proclamation
This is the eighth year the Human Rights Commission brought forward a proclamation to support the LGBTQ+ community.  The proclamation speaks to tolerance, justice, and dignity for all and was presented by the City Council on June 5.
