WIC
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program provides nutrition education, breast/chestfeeding counseling and support, and food benefits for eligible people who are pregnant, postpartum or have children up to five years of age.
- WIC is for:
- WOMEN
- Pregnant women
- Breastfeeding women who have had a baby within the past year
- Women who have had a baby within the past six months
- Women who have been pregnant within the past six months
- INFANTS from birth to 1 year of age
- CHILDREN from 1 year of age to their 5th birthday
- WOMEN
You must be a resident of Bloomington, Edina or Richfield. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen.
Information about you or your child's health will be asked.
You will be asked to bring proof of income and if you or your family member is on any of the following programs:
- Medical Assistance
- Medical Assistance (TEFRA)
- SNAP (Food Stamps)
- MN Family Investment Program
- Fuel Assistance
- Reduced or Free School Lunch
- Head Start
- Supplemental Security Income
- Pregnant women
- Mothers and fathers with an infant or child under the age of 5
- Foster parent(s) or guardian(s) with an infant or child under age 5
Two ways to apply:
- Apply online.
- Call the clinic at 952-563-8993 to make an appointment. Staff will schedule your appointment and answer any questions you might have.
- Staff will walk through the application process with you at your appointment. You will receive food benefits on a debit card for use at grocery stores.
WIC services are provided by appointment only at the following location and virtually during COVID-19:

Staff will also connect you with additional health and social services including:
- Well visits for children
- Immunizations
- Additional services for children and families

Staff will discuss with you specific health needs and nutrition and how to prepare food. Food benefits are also available in the form of a debit card, for use at grocery stores.
WIC foods are for the WIC participant(s) (not the whole family):
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Fruit or vegetable juice rich in Vitamin C
- Whole grains
- Whole grain bread
- Whole grain tortillas
- Whole wheat pasta
- Brown rice
- Oatmeal
- Cereals
- WIC cereals provide iron for healthy blood
- Many WIC cereals are whole grain and high in fiber as well as other vitamins and minerals
- Protein
- Eggs
- Peanut butter or beans (dry or canned)
- Dairy
- Milk
- Cheese
- Yogurt
- Soy
- WIC can substitute soy beverages or tofu for some of the milk, depending on the situation
- Infant foods (for babies)
- Babies receive baby food fruits, vegetables and meats (for breastfed infants)
- Formula is available for infants; however, breastfeeding is recommended
WIC's peer breastfeeding counselors and lactation consultants are available to offer breastfeeding support and answer any breastfeeding concerns.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation.
