This summer, Bloomington Police Department is partnering with Empower Inclusion to offer a Growth Through Opportunity internship to provide people with intellectual and developmental disabilities new work experiences.

Two interns, Jonny and Gage, rotated across City departments and try out a job in each one on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

“BPD is excited to partner with Empower Inclusion to offer this internship because we know it will be an enjoyable and thrilling 10 weeks for both Jonny and Gage,” Officer Desmond Daniels said. “It is important to the Bloomington Police Department to be inclusive and share with others not only what we do, but also the amazing work of all of our partners at the City of Bloomington. This program will open doors for participants like Jonny and Gage and offer them the opportunity to learn many new jobs and build their resume for future endeavors.”
