In the U.S., about 40% of food is wasted. Much of that food waste happens at home.

The most wasted food is leftovers or unspoiled food that could be eaten, according to a recent waste study in Minneapolis.

The Stop Food Waste Challenge is a monthlong effort that started August 1 to help you:

  • Notice when you are wasting food.

  • Commit to actions with the greatest impact.

  • Connect with helpful resources.

  • Find support and motivation.

The challenge runs through the month of August. Join the City of Bloomington team at stopfoodwaste.ecochallenge.org.

Did you know?  A family of four spends $2,500 on food that ends up being wasted each year, according to stopfoodwaste.org.
