The City of Bloomington’s Fire Station 4 has been awarded the Minnesota Subcontractors Association (MSA) Project of the Year. There were a total of ten nominees in this category. This award recognizes excellence in construction and collaboration among subcontractors, suppliers, and general contractors.
This is the second award of excellence for construction Fire Station 4 has received. In January, it received an Award of Excellence from the Minnesota Construction Association.
The award-winning project, located at 4201 West 84th Street, involved the demolition of the previous 4,429-square-foot building and the construction of a new, state-of-the-art 25,286-square-foot facility on the same site. The project began in March 2022, and was completed in August 2023. Terra Construction served as the general contractor. CNH Architects designed the facility.
The station has three apparatus bays, office space, a training room, eight dorm rooms, and various health and safety amenities for firefighters. The design incorporates modern best practices, including carcinogen separation and on-site training features, ensuring operational efficiency and safety for the staff now and for decades to come.
“The Fire Department is very pleased with the design and performance of the new Fire Station 4. This improvement has positively impacted the service that we provide the city,” said Fire Chief Ulie Seal. "Working closely with our partners CNH and Terra has produced an award-winning facility that will meet our needs for many years to come.”
