Bloomington, MN — The City of Bloomington is pleased to announce the appointment of Kathy Hedin as the City’s new assistant city manager - external services, effective Monday, July 22.
Hedin brings over 20 years of experience in local government to her new role, with a strong background in administration, human services and public health. With a track record of advancing equity, inclusion, and justice, Hedin has demonstrated a commitment to collaborating with leaders at all levels, elected officials, partners, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality and responsive services that make a positive difference in people's lives.
Before joining the Bloomington team, Hedin served at Ramsey County as public health director, social services director, and, most recently, deputy county manager. Her responsibilities in this role included oversight of the departments of public health, community corrections, innovation and strategy, financial assistance services, social services and veterans services.
Hedin’s educational background includes a Master of Science in Social and Community Work from Capella University and a Bachelor of Science in Community/Public Health from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has also completed the Public Service Leadership Executive Course at Harvard Kennedy School.
