Bloomington, MN — The City of Bloomington is proud to announce that it has been selected as the winner of the small-city award in the fourth year of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Police Reform and Equitable Justice Grant Program. This prestigious recognition, supported by Target, acknowledges the City's "Increasing Trust Through Shared Values" Program.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors and Target's grant program aims to identify, support, and promote police policies and practices that advance equitable treatment for all individuals in the communities they serve. Bloomington's winning program focuses on fostering trust between community members and police officers, with a particular emphasis on values-based recruitment and promotion within law enforcement.
The $75,000 grant will be used to further enhance the program's initiatives, including community engagement efforts, values-based training for law enforcement personnel, and ongoing assessments to ensure positive outcomes and public satisfaction.
“I would like to thank the U.S. Conference of Mayors and Target for awarding us this grant so we can continue our great work with our shared values project with our community,” said Chief Booker T. Hodges. “I am looking forward to seeing what the data tells us as I believe what we have done here as far as coming together with our community if replicated could help communities all over the country increase and maintain trust within their communities.”
