Competition narrows for $100,000 business award

The City of Bloomington and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber are excited to announce the Top 3 finalists for the Hatch Bloomington retail pitch competition. The three finalists have emerged through a competitive process that included pitches to the contest’s judging panel and a week of online community voting.

The Top 3 finalists are:

  • Kalsoni: A startup dedicated to empowering women and girls by providing modest and culturally sensitive activewear and wellness initiatives, emphasizing community engagement and support for women’s health.
  • Nunaa: A takeout and reservation-based restaurant concept offering authentic West African cuisine, aiming to fill a gap in the culinary landscape of Bloomington.
  • Scramblin' Egg: A restaurant specializing in high-quality, quick-service breakfast foods, transitioning from a food truck to a permanent, brick-and-mortar location to better serve its growing customer base.

The Hatch-Off event on Thursday, August 22 at 6 p.m. will showcase the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the final three contestants. The public is encouraged to attend the event in the Black Box Theater, Bloomington Civic Plaza, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road or watch it via livestream at blm.mn/hatchtop3. The winner of the competition’s $100,000 business assistance award will be announced in early September after a week of community voting.

Voting will open after the August 22 pitch session and will remain open through Thursday, August 29. Community members will be able to vote for the business they want to see in Bloomington through online voting.
