Get ready to shout: Compost bingo! Join your Bloomington neighbors throughout the month of May in a citywide organics recycling bingo challenge.

During International Compost Awareness Week, May 5-11, your efforts will be bolstered by events scheduled all over the country and the world to encourage and celebrate composting.

Be part of this important work and perhaps shout “compost bingo” by taking simple actions intended to help make your composting actions become habits.

For each bingo you complete, you will be entered into a random chance drawing to win tokens to the Bloomington Farmers Market.

Research by the Compost Research and Education Foundation has found that composting can:

  • Reduce the use of landfill space and incineration.

  • Reduce pollution in waterways.

  • Reduce methane gas and carbon emissions.

  • Increase sustenance to support biological diversity.
