Black Excellence: Health is Wealth
Join the City of Bloomington for a celebration of Black joy and freedom at its 2024 Juneteenth event. There will be food trucks, local business vendors, music and art performances and a DJ. Come honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to a brighter future.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865. Also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Liberation Day, and Emancipation Day, the holiday commemorates when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received the news they were free. In 2021, Juneteenth was adopted as a federal holiday. Minnesota adopted Juneteenth as state holiday in early 2023.
This event is brought to you by The City of Bloomington's Juneteenth Planning Committee, which includes representation from Church of New Life, Normandale Community College, Bloomington Black Employee Network and many more!
Entertainers, food and business vendors will be announced/added to this page in coming weeks.
