Meet Jamy Hanson, Bloomington’s new city clerk. Hanson, who took on the role in July 2024, brings years of experience in city government, including her recent position as the City’s deputy city clerk.

Hanson’s career in public service began with the city of Maple Grove, where she started as an administrative secretary in 2018 and later became deputy city clerk. She has been passionate about elections since she planned the 2018 elections shortly after joining Maple Grove.

Hanson’s interest in public service was inspired by her grandfather, a long-time city councilmember and mayor. “Public service was probably in my DNA!” she said.

In her current role, Hanson oversees elections, business licenses, passport applications and cemetery services. Hanson is also focusing on improving online access to cemetery records.

“I find it very rewarding to help residents,” Hanson said. “Whether it’s with voting, passports, or cemetery services, I strive to streamline processes, while still creating a helpful and friendly environment. I feel rewarded when residents walk away having a great experience with our staff.”
