A $100,000 Competition Encourages Innovative Business Ideas in Bloomington
Bloomington, MN – In the spirit of fostering local entrepreneurship and igniting the business landscape of Bloomington, Minnesota, the City of Bloomington and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber today announced the launch of "Hatch Bloomington" at the Minneapolis Regional Chamber Annual Meeting. Hatch Bloomington is a dynamic business competition aimed at spurring economic growth, revitalizing commercial corridors, and empowering innovative minds to bring their business dreams to life.
Hatch Bloomington extends an incredible opportunity to ambitious entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas and compete for a chance to win $100,000 in financial assistance to kickstart their business ventures in Bloomington. The competition is part of a strategic effort to support the small business community and attract fresh investment into Bloomington, positioning it as a hub of economic activity and innovation in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Ideal contestants for Hatch Bloomington are those who envision a storefront presence in the community that contributes to the vibrant and dynamic fabric of Bloomington’s business landscape. Through the competition, the City and Chamber aim to bolster investment and nurture a pipeline of dedicated entrepreneurs who are committed to the local community.
“We are thrilled to launch Hatch Bloomington and invite entrepreneurs who share our vision for a thriving local economy to participate,” said Bloomington Mayor Tim Busse. “This initiative is more than a competition; it’s a platform for innovation, growth, and community engagement.”
Applications will be accepted from April 3 to May 3. During this period, individuals may submit a proposal. In addition to the chance to win $100,000, competitors will gain significant exposure and access to tools and connections to help them succeed.
After reviewing applications, a team of judges from the local business community will narrow the field to 10 finalists. Community members will be invited to participate in the process by casting a vote, via vote-by-text software, to narrow the field to three standout finalists over the summer. The remaining three competitors will have an opportunity to rally public support in pursuit of the ultimate prize of $100,000 in business assistance funding. The final voting round will be in late August with the winner announced in September.
“Whether it's an innovative concept store, a unique boutique, or a visionary retail experience, Hatch Bloomington aims to discover and support the next generation of retail pioneers who will contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our region’s commercial landscape,” said Jonathan Weinhagen, President & CEO of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber.
