Volunteer with us
Human Services works with more than 300 volunteers each year in programs, activities and special events.
Volunteers may choose to assist at one time special events or to volunteer on an on-going basis.
Available volunteer opportunities:
Provide dishwashing using a commercial dishwasher at the City Diner. Volunteers must be able to stand for 1 hour or more, lift stacks of dishes and work as part of a team. This position requires a criminal background check authorization form to be completed.
Matter of Balance Instructor
Teach practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance. Instructors will receive free training on February 18 and 25, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Bone Builders Exercise Instructor
Instruction of fitness course, in the Bone Builders exercise program. Classes involve low-impact exercises for all fitness levels to improve posture, strength, balance, endurance and flexibility. Instructors will receive one 6-hour training course, with free lunch, as well as mileage reimbursement for any costs incurred driving to and from the training course and Bone Builders classes.
Assist adults to improve their English skills through tutoring. No previous experience is necessary and training is provided by lead volunteers. Tutors work with students in pairs or small groups on basic conversation, writing and daily life skills.
Creekside Crickets Musicians
Participate as a member of an instrumental band, performing at local community events. Band plays oldies, country and folk styles of music.
