Bloomington HRA to open Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list

Waiting list status:

Opening at 8:00 am Tuesday, September 9, 2014

The Bloomington Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) will be accepting applications online for its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists beginning at 8:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 until 4:30 P.M. on Friday, September 12, 2014. The on-line application will be available 24 hours per day.

Applications must be submitted on-line at www.waitlistcheck.com/MN152 external linkonly during this time period.

The time and date of receipt of the application on-line has no bearing on whether an application will be selected for the waiting list. There is no need or advantage to applying immediately after the list opens.

A household of any size may apply to the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. The HRA will conduct a lottery of all applications for 1,500 positions on the waiting list.

The Project-Based Voucher waiting list will also be open. Only applications of households with 5 to 6 members will be included in a lottery for 700 positions on the project-based list.

The Housing Choice Voucher Rent Assistanace and Project-Based Voucher Programs help very low-income households with rent payments. To qualify, annual gross household income cannot exceed:

All Applicants will be screened for previous violent or illegal drug activity.

Applications WILL NOT be available in the HRA office and fax requests will not be accepted. Applicants may use any computer, tablet or smart-phone with internet access to apply, including free computers at public libraries. Applicants needing a reasonable accommodation may submit a written request to the HRA. The request must be received a the HRA office no later than September 2, 2014.
